Fish For Fridays

Fishmonger

Every Friday from 10am-5pm R & C Harper Ltd. will be outside the farm shop selling fresh fish and seafood. Last Friday I went to talk to Chris Harper and to buy some fish for our dinner. We invited my husbands family over and we had a gorgeous fish platter with cod, plaice, sea bass, salmon and mackerel stuffed with samphire. (My husband was being creative.) It was all delicious and I can’t wait to … Continue reading

Made At Welbeck Event

Made-At-Wel

Last Saturday saw the first Made At Welbeck event. It went really well! It was great to see all the Welbeck Producers together. Welbeck Bakehouse, Stichelton, Annette’s Cakes and Dukeries Garden Centre were there selling their fabulous products and there was a bar serving Welbeck Abbey Brewery‘s real ales. There was also a BBQ provided by the Limehouse Cafe. The Harley Gallery Artist Studios were open to the public and The Bodging Project held furniture making … Continue reading

Today I have a guest post from Audre, the Marketing Coordinator on Welbeck. She is going to tell you all about the Made At Welbeck event that will take place this Saturday. Everyone at the shop is very excited about this event as it will give customers a chance to see just how much goes on behind the scenes. For customers visiting the shop it isn’t always apparent how many of the products are made … Continue reading

Mrs. Marson’s Lemon Meringue Pie Recipe

IMG_3079

First, please let me apologise for the lack of activity on this blog. We have had an April full of illness. My daughter was admitted to hospital with suspected meningitis but luckily it was just a virus. It has taken her over 2 weeks to recover but she is almost back to her cheeky self. To make up for my absence I thought that I would share a lovely recipe with you. My husband is … Continue reading

The Secret Diary Of Geoff Brown, Aged 59 3/4

DSC_0072

Geoff has been a butcher at the shop for just over a year. I have spoken to him a couple of times about his ‘About Me‘ post but I always felt like I was catching him of guard so I asked if he would like to write down his story for me. He did this and as I started reading it I couldn’t help but smile. Maybe the teacher in me had made it seem … Continue reading

Mrs. Marson’s Bakewell Tart

Slice

Last week I made Mrs. Marson’s Bakewell Tart. I love Bakewell Tart but I have never made one so I was excited to try. The recipe was very straight forward and the result was delicious! After being brave and attempting to make pastry using Mrs. Marson’s All In One Recipe whilst making her Butterscotch Tart I decided to be even braver this time and use a more traditional method. I increased the pastry ingredients as, … Continue reading

The Sausage Roll Man

DSC_0094

I thought that it was time to share the story of the vegetarian sausage roll man with you.  David works on the deli counter at the shop and, being a vegetarian, has to suffer regular teasing from the butchers. When the shop was awarded Best On Farm Butchery at the recent Farma Awards, it was said that, ‘The phenomenal team of butchers could turn a vegetarian into a carnivore within 10 minutes.’ I am convinced … Continue reading

Around 200 people were treated to a three-course meal that showcased the fine food from Farma members, including the … Continue reading

Countrywise Kitchen

At the beginning of last year the Welbeck Farm Shop was featured on Countrywise Kitchen. The presenter Mike Robinson visited the shop and the brewery to gather ingredients and then he took Michael into the estate to cook a meal. Michael thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found it very exciting! Michael’s Story It was great to meet Mike Robinson and taste his food. I always thought when people cooked on television the food probably didn’t … Continue reading

Trinkets & Swirls

DSC_0075

Last week I went to make some trinkets with Paul. It was great seeing how Paul worked! I have put together a little video, which shows us making some trinkets and a pork swirl. I have altered the speed of the video to different percentages, depending on what we were doing. For example, when Paul was sharpening the knife I only increased the speed slightly but when I was doing anything I increased the speed … Continue reading
